If you’ve always wanted to play with real money and yearned to network with other people – then consider online party poker. It is a highly respected game and almost treated as a ‘Mecca’ of sorts by poker players.

How does party poker work?
Party poker is just like gambling because most of the time it involves the use of real money. People use their credit or debit cards to transfer funds to play the game. Once they win it, they cash out and convert the chips into dollars or their currency of choice. This money is directly credited into the account. However, if you’re a beginner, you will want to avoid the risk involved. Instead you can try out some of the sites that use play money instead of real cash.

Party poker is characterized by the presence of poker rooms which are synonymous to chatting rooms. In these rooms you get to chat, connect and play with thousands of poker fans across the globe. One of the best things about online party poker is that there are no tell-tale signs for others to know you’re bluffing. Your identity remains a secret and no one can see your face!

Bluffing your way through poker
Remember the time you were a kid? You’d been grounded, parents were away and you decided to throw a party. Then when mom called to check, you’d put up a straight face and bluff that you’re doing your homework. Sounds familiar? Well bluffing in poker also provides the same level of thrill and exhilaration. Anyone who has dabbled in a bit of poker would know that bluffing is of paramount importance in the game. It hides your true situation and helps you spring a surprise on your opponent when he least expects it! There are some situations where bluffing is most effective. At other times, it is more of a redundancy:
  1. Bluff when the stakes are high. Bluffing works best when there are high limits on the game.
  2. Don’t bluff with weak players. Sounds contradictory? Maybe, but fact is, weak players are always jittery and eager to know what cards you have. They will tend to call your bluffs more often, thereby increasing your chances at being caught.
  3. Don’t bluff too many people. The fewer the players, the better the bluff seems to work in your favor.
  4. Bluff later into the game. It’s not a very good idea to bluff when the game has just begun. Try and start bluffing only when others around you are checking, calling or folding. You’ll blend in better and arouse less suspicion.
  5. Build your image first. Bluffing is a fine art. Most experienced poker players know that people who bluff at every second chance are the ones with bad cards. These bluffers get called by experienced players more often. Most of the times, good cards are hard to come by and people can easily see through too much bluffing. A good player, on the other hand, will usually not bluff unless he really needs the cards.
  6. A final word of caution. Bluffing online in poker can be a bit of a downer sometimes. It’s not like playing in your regular local card room. First of all, people cannot read your faces – that can take out a lot of the guesswork in bluffing. Also, most people may not understand your bluff and may call too soon.
Online party poker is full of unexpected surprises and a whole lot of fun – it’s time you jumped on the poker bandwagon too!
